My Brothaz HOME, Inc. (MBH) is a nonprofit community-based organization located in Savannah, Georgia. Our service area include the Coastal Health District and surrounding counties. The organization was founded in March 2000 in direct response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Savannah. The core group of original founders consisted of the following: Renardus Anderson (Deceased), Gerald Davis (Deceased), Mark Douglas (Current Executive Director), Eugene Greene, Alvin Hamilton, Willie Houston, Reginald Pollard and McArthur Porter, Jr. Currently, the agency does not have a housing component. HOME is acronym for "Helping Our Men Excel." Although we do not currently provide housing assistance, we do refer individuals for housing services. The whole idea behind MBH was to fill a gap and establish a safe space for men of all walks of life to enter into our office and feel at "home." The agency also provide information and referral services for a variety of other social services (i.e. legal, medical, case management, support groups and substance abuse). Although our primary services target adult men and youth, we do provide prevention, outreach and supportive services targeting women as well from diverse populations. We value the whole family including men, women, youth and anyone in need of our services.
The mission of My Brothaz HOME, Inc. is to reduce the number of new HIV infections among men and their partners by providing culturally sensitive HIV prevention education and supportive services regardless of sexual orientation. MBH believes that all HIV prevention programs should empower and educate everyone living with and /or affected by HIV/AIDS. We must confront the powerful emotions regarding sex, sexuality, drugs, alcohol abuse and other behaviors that put a person at risk. We believe it is what you do that puts a person at risk of infection, rather than who you are. HIV/AIDS is an equal opportunity disease. HIV/AIDS does not discriminate.
MBH currently has memberships/affiliations with the following organizations:
Georgia HIV Prevention Community Planning Group
Coastal Care Consortium
